EUFY X10 PRO OMNI ROBOT VACUUM REVIEW

by admin

After weeks of putting the Eufy X10 Pro Omni through its paces in my busy farmhouse, I’ve got a lot to say. From pet hair to sawdust and everything in between, here’s how we actually found this robot cleaner perform.

I’ll let you decide whether it deserves a permanent spot in your home. You can also watch our full experience X10 Pro review video here.

If you’re anything like me, juggling muddy boots, DIY projects, and a dog that believes every room is a race track, then you’ll understand why the idea of a robot vacuum was intriguing.

But curiosity got the better of me after I installed my wooden floor and I felt now was the time to buy our first robot vacuum – especially since our Henry Hoover had broken after 10+ years of use.

Robot hoovers have been around for a while now, quietly whirring their way into homes, promising to take one more job off the to-do list. The idea sounds dreamy-press a button and let a little disc-shaped cleaner do the rounds while you get on with your day.

But in reality, many of the early models were more hassle than help. They’d get stuck under furniture, bump into everything, or miss half the mess.

These days, though, the tech has come a long way. Modern robot vacuums come with smart mapping, mopping attachments, and enough suction power to give your upright a run for your money.

Brands like Eufy, Roborock, and iRobot are trying to prove that robot cleaners aren’t just flashy gadgets but useful tools that fit into everyday life. However, for years, we simply used this Vileda spray mop.

✔️ SETUP

You can watch how I set up the Eufy X10 Pro here, and it was surprisingly simple. Straight out of the box, all I had to do was plug in the base station and download the eufy app.

Once it was charged up, I let it start its map management to create a plan of my bungalow, which it identifies whether you have hard floors, carpets, rugs, etc.

And you can rename any specific area and create no-go zones. We then selected maximum suction for deep cleaning with mop combos for its first time, then selected our preferred cleaning routine, avoiding little-used spare bedrooms.

MAINTENANCE

To keep the Eufy X10 Pro doing its job properly, there are a few small but important jobs to stay on top of:

  1. The dust bag in the base station will need emptying every couple of weeks, depending on how much mess your home sees.
  2. If you’re using the mopping function, you’ll also need to keep the water tank filled and replace the mopping pads after so many hours of use.
  3. It’s worth checking the roller brush for long hair or string that might get tangled up, especially if you’ve got pets.
  4. And now and then, a quick wipe of the sensors and charging contacts with a dry cloth helps it navigate without getting confused.

Nothing too taxing, but it definitely runs better with a bit of regular TLC.

THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE BUYING

2.Loose cables and electronics
These are robot hoover kryptonite. They’ll get tangled up in the brushes and stop it in its tracks.

2.Pet reactions
Some pets see it as a new best friend. Others declare it public enemy number one. Worth introducing them slowly.

3.Low furniture traps
It’s not great for vacuuming in tight spaces, so you will need to consider your furniture and layout.

It can develop scratches and marks on the top and needs space to turn around.

4.Thick rugs and raised floors
Some robot vacuums struggle with high-pile rugs or raised edges between rooms. The Eufy does pretty well, but it’s still worth keeping an eye out.

5.Dust bags aren’t recyclable
As to date, there are no recyclable dust collection bags for sale on the market as with many other vacuum cleaners.

I do plan on sewing one until then and repurposing the existing cardboard slider with hole.

However, replacement bags are currently around £13.99 for 10.

6.It can’t clean everywhere
While it offers edge-hugging mopping, there are areas that you have to do manually, such as behind doors, some awkward corners or edges.

7.It knocks sweeping brushes
This is a regular occurrence, so you will need to try and find out of reach homes for them.

However, one day we got an alert to say it knocked one over and got stuck on it and the battery depleted while trying to set itself free.

8.The water tanks can fail
Due to its mopping system, we had a major problem and kept getting alerts that the water level of our docking station cleaning tray was abnormal from day 1.

This meant we kept having to manually empty it and didn’t know why. The following day, it overfilled and leaked all over our clean floors.

We contacted customer services who offered a replacement, but it’s never happened since,

PROS

Here are some different ways you can enhance and truly personalize this project:

  • Mopping – it does a great job mopping hardwood and tiled flooring
  • Water flow – you can adjust the amount of water to clean individual rooms
  • Clean mop heads – it self cleans and hot air dries its mops
  • Fairly good value – at a price point £649 when discounted when compared to hiring a cleaner
  • Ideal for those who hate vacuuming – I am in this catergory, or if you consider yourself lazy
  • Mop zones – these are easy to select
  • Eufy clean app – super easy to use including maintenance videos
  • Works with Alexa – the pro omni robot vacuum can be activated through voice activation
  • Floor plan creation is simple – it is automatically created through mapping and can be altered manually. We divided our open plan living room and dining room

CONS

  • empty water tank – the removable tank needs regularly topping up
  • self-empty station – this we found can fail and leak on your floor, but we still don’t know why
  • Noise levels – with its excellent suction power, it is loud, making it harder to work from home, but what vacuum is quiet?
  • Battery life – it can’t do a full bungalow clean on one charge and often has to recharge
  • Cleaning time – it’s much quicker to vacuum your own home and takes 2 hours for more intensive clean works
  • Obstacle avoidance isn’t foolproof – it catches cables, knocks things over, and sometimes catches on shaggy rugs
  • Not a true hands-off cleaning experience – it can’t vacuum behind doors, in some tight spaces and around its station
  • Dirty water tank smells – during a mini heatwave, it can smell, so you’ll want to clean it out more frequently

TIPS

  • Try to home it on a floor that won’t be affected by possible water damage
  • Visually inspect the tray, clean water tank and dirty water tank regularly for pooling
  • Rinse and refill the dirty water tank as it can smell in hot weather. Many add a capful of mouthwash to control it
  • Keep the app up to date to ensure it’s functioning properly
  • Remove hair from the roller regularly
  • Wipe down the sensors and cameras every few weeks to help its LiDARs sensors work optimally
  • Replace the mops as and when needed
  • Remap your house if you add or change your furniture layout
  • Avoid leaving it unsupervised with your pets
